Recently, as a sea-rail intermodal freight train arrived at the Shanghai Luchao Port Railway Center Station, Shanghai's sea-rail intermodal container arrivals and departures in 2024 reached 956,000 TEUs, a 36.6% YoY increase, setting a new historical record.
Currently, Shanghai's sea-rail intermodal routes cover over 40 cities in nine provinces and municipalities, ensuring stable operations of all freight train lines.
With increasing cooperation among railway, port and other authorities, sea-rail intermodal transport is becoming a key link in deepening economic and trade exchanges between countries along the Belt and Road. "We will continue to strengthen the promotion of sea-rail intermodal policies, expand the network of routes, innovate service measures, and better support the sustainable growth and high-quality development of sea-rail intermodal transport, helping to effectively reduce logistics costs across society," said Li Lin, head of the Multimodal Transport Section at the Freight Department of CR-Shanghai.
