From September 29 to October 8, the Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway transported a total of 46,000 passengers, a significant increase from last year's 38,000 passengers during the same period. Spanning 435 kilometers from Lhasa to Nyingchi, this railway is Tibet's first electrified railway, which began operations on June 25, 2021. It ended the long-standing absence of train services in southeastern Tibet, marking a new chapter in Tibetan and plateau railway development.
Today, Tibet's rail network forms a "one main corridor, two supportive railways" structure, with the Qinghai-Tibet Railway as the primary route and the Lhasa-Shigatse Railway and Lhasa-Nyingchi Railways as the two eastern and western branches. This network has significantly promoted economic and social development in Tibet and improved the livelihood of its people.
