This year, CR-Urumqi has made every effort to ensure smooth traffic flow through the port, raise the precision of command and dispatch, utilize the rebuilt and expanded railway ports and passages, and maximize the operational capacity of loading and unloading lines to continuously improve the traffic efficiency and high-quality operation of CRE. In the first half of the year, CRE trains made 7,746 journeys via Alataw Pass and Khorgos Port, a year-on-year growth of 8.2%.

Regarding deepening cooperation, CR-Urumqi drew up 27 measures for transit cargo handling and 11 measures for implementation of port expansion and reconstruction and optimization of train transfer at ports by China and Kazakhstan railway departments. These measures are formulated from these aspects: capacity of loading and unloading, transport capacity guarantee, construction, etc., to continuously enhance the port. The railway departments of China and Kazakhstan hold meetings weekly to solve problems encountered when handing over trains and reloading cargoes at the port. Regarding optimizing the traffic environment, CR-Urumqi insists on deepening exchanges and collaboration with customs, border checkposts, and local governments. Considering problems occurred during import and export train inspection and cargo clearance, CR-Urumchi and other departments worked out measures to enhance the efficiency of port traffic, share access to custom clearance data,  speed up the clearance of imported grain goods, scale up the proportion of “fast clearance”, etc., and put these measures into effect.
