On September 18, China CRRC held a ceremony in Dalian, Liaoning Province, to unveil its new energy locomotive, featuring a first batch of 1000 kW power-level hybrid electric locomotives.

According to reports, this locomotive uses a highly integrated diesel generating set and a large-capacity power battery as its power source, offering redundancy in power. The locomotive primarily operates on the power battery, significantly reducing diesel engine fuel consumption and emissions, while the diesel engine meets charging and traction requirements, ensuring reliable operation. The locomotive is also equipped with an advanced microcomputer control system, an integrated traction conversion device, and a microcomputer-controlled braking system, providing high efficiency, safety and expandability. It can achieve remote driving and automatic driving based on the characteristics of the transportation conditions.

Utilizing a large-capacity lithium-ion power battery as its main power source, the diesel generating set assists in charging, achieving energy savings, emission reduction and carbon reduction. This is beneficial for accelerating the replacement of old diesel locomotives with new energy alternatives, facilitating a green and low-carbon transformation in railways.
